How much did everyone get? We had about 7-8" at our house on Smith Mountain Lake. What about everyone else? |

Check Bluefield in with 4 to 6 inches, before the rain came and soaked it down. |

after reading some of the post thought i would share my early sucess story with you guys and girls.here it goes i have only hunted for two years. and the main reason that i even got started now is because i have a four year old boy(also known around my house as the red power ranger)anyway i thought that i had better learn how to hunt just incase he took a intrest in it one day. fall2001 was a big learning experiance for me with a bow, muzzlerloader! there was a whole lot of learning to be done and i did it all the hard way trial and era. i did manage to score a nice three pointer with my muzzlerloader.any way this spring was a blast when i got to go. the next to last monday of the season i had what sounded like 4-6 birds gobbling. i was so nervous that i was afraid to call.afraid that i would scare them off. i put a jake decoy out in the field about 15 yards (in front a a fallen tree that had made it way into the field)from the field edge and i was about 5-10 yards back in the woods they were gobbling at every thing then every thing went silent i didnt hear anything for about 20 mins. so i was staring to doubt that it was going to happen today either.so i eased up to glass the field and caught a glimsp of black about 70 yards to my right easing out of the woods into the field so i set back down. and yelp three of for times and the turkeys gobbled and so at this point my decoys are to my left because i had seen those birds easing out of the woods to my right so i moved around my tree a little bit in the direction i thought they were going to come from and i see out of the corner of my eye at my decoys a beatiful gobbler in full strut and another in have strut. so ieased around and when i did the bird that was strutting came out of strut and stuck his head straight up that when i let him have it. the bird was 19.50lbs,10.50inch beard and 1inch spurs. as you all know i am hopelessly hooked. thanks for giving me a place to share my story. and hope it wasnt to lomd |
