Freddy,
I was pulling hard for your wahoos...guess it just wasn't to be for them against the hokies this year...finishing 2nd in the ACC is a good year...what bowl are they heading to? I was obviously elated with the Mountaineers win today over Pitt....9-3 is a great year for the Mounties....glad they got a New Year's Day bowl...Gator Bowl??

Looks like a rematch with Maryland in the Gator Bowl...? Congrats! I was pulling for them too. Hokies managed a couple big plays and just showed more experience than the young wahoos. They are heading in the right direction though! I was hoping for a win and a Peach Bowl berth to match-up against GN's Volunteers... :) I think the Wahoos will be dropped to the Seattle Bowl or whatever that bowl in Charlotte is. By finishing 2nd in the ACC they should have gotten at least the Peach or the Gator... :( These bowl commitee folks are morons!

I'm a Wahoo fan as well and I agree with you Freddy. The bowl committee folks are worse than morons, they're idiots. How can they pick Clemson over Virginia for the Tangerine Bowl? So much for a difficult schedule playing 7 top 25 teams and beating 3 of 'em. No respect for the Hoos.

Hey the Young comment just does not play it Freddy. The Hokies are fairly young too. I can say one thing, and that is that both of our states teams will be in the top 20 next year. This game will continue to be a shootout for the next few years. I do agree with you on the bowl pick, they (UVA) are a better team, and should have gotten a better bowl bid. The Hokies just flat blew their chances at a better bid by losing 3 in a row. I think next weeks game could be a tight one though.

What really gets me more than anything is how they can take a second place team and bump them down to fifth or sixth place bowl!I still say they need to change it to tournament play instead of who likes what team better. Just my Opinion

WELL-I am glad that there are other people that see this situation for what it is-B.S.

I was down in Bburg for the game (I had to leave the woods to do it, and I had a 5pt buck in the back of my truck, thankfully, nobody messed with my deer in the parking lot!), and I was disappointed to see the kicking game at such a poor level. Matt just wasn't Matt, but everyone has down games, I just wish he had saved his down game for any other. The wind was horrendous during the game, but you just can't leave receivers that open.

Back to the bowl committee evil money horders, they are scum. East Tenn State?? (N.C. State played them, along with UMass) MD played Akron and Wolford our whatever that AA team is, Virginia after playing the likes of PSU, USC, Colorado State, Akron and Tech for their outtaconference games, is bound for the tire bowl in Charlotte, to play either WVU or Pitt. Travisty. Virginia fans as a whole just need to make it to more games and travel better I suppose. I would like to see them play WVU, I haven't seen that since the white helmets were worn with the orange and blue stripe at UVa. Regardless, I was proud of the team in a season they were suppose to finish 8th by all the non-believers. There is much to be excited about when it comes to Virginia Football.

I could stand to see a playoff season if the committe is going to conduct themselves in such a tasteless manor.

On another note, while deer hunting this fall (I don't hunt turkeys until spring) I have heard birds gobble in Virginia, West Virginia, and now yesterday in Pennsylvania. Before this year, I had never heard a gobble in the fall. Crazy.

Good luck hunting guys and try and enjoy the New Year and all the college bowl games.

Ditto what TBurt said... :)

How about a WVU and UVA matchup Diablo? :)

That would be good! But I think WVU's offense is too strong for UVA. WVU was 2-2 against ranked teams and should've beaten Miami! Their other loss was against Maryland. Even with that I think WVU did well with a not-too-tough schedule this season...perhaps my Mounties are a wee bit overrated, but you can't argue with a rush offense that has stayed ranked at #2 in the nation. Overall WVU had 4 ranked opponents (Wis,Miami,Pitt,VT); 3 gimmes (UTC,Rutgers, and Temple) and 5 respectable to decent teams (Cincy,ECU,Maryland,Syracuse and BC).

UT-Chattanooga W 56-7 1-0 (0-0 Big East)
No. 21 Wisconsin L 34-17 1-1 (0-0 Big East)
Cincinnati W 35-32 2-1 (0-0 Big East)
East Carolina W 37-17 3-1 (0-0 Big East)
Maryland L 48-17 3-2 (0-0 Big East)
Rutgers W 40-0 4-2 (1-0 Big East)
Syracuse W 34-7 5-2 (2-0 Big East)
No. 1 Miami L 40-23 5-3 (2-1 Big East)
Temple W 46-20 6-3 (3-1 Big East)
Boston College W 24-14 7-3 (4-1 Big East)
No. 12 Virginia Tech W 21-18 8-3 (5-1 Big East)
No. 18 Pittsburgh W 24-17 9-3 (6-1 Big East)

I'd rather watch college football that pro football any day of the week...thank goodness the bowl season is almost upon us.

PS - you should hear the Clemson fans ranting and raving down here about how it was so obvious to them to be picked for the bowl ahead of UVA. No consideration to how their team played so inconsistently this year at all. The only thing that is evident to me is that the bowl selection maroons made their decision based on fan support (read ticket sales). I hope the UVA faithful understand this - I hope they fill the stadium every game next year...UVA is a young team with many returning upperclassmen...next year should be even better than this year.

Go Eers! Sorry Freddy. Charlottesville is just too close to occupied Virginia to get much of my support. Folks up that way usually aren't (I guess that should be ain't) in much of a hurry to claim us SWVA hillbillies. We gladly throw our support to our cultural equivalents!

Go HOOS! I got my ticket yesterday to watch WVU and the Big East go down at the hands of a young Virginia Ball club in Charlotte, N.C. It will be a heck of a game I hope though. For $25 and the short drive to see a bowl game, it's a pretty good deal to see a battle between the Virginias.

I'll be there too TBURT... UVA will have their hands full with WVU's running game... but will WVU be able to stop Schaub & Co? We'll see... :)

My hat's off to the Wahoos for an exceptionally played game. Looks like my Mounties forgot to put their game face on. It's amazing what a few mental let-downs and poor special teams play will do for your opponents momentum. UVA capitalized on every Mountie blunder and made few if any mistakes of their own. The Mounties didn't lose - they got BEAT in every phase of the game. One thing's for sure, with all the young talent theWahoos possess, they will be a force to be reckoned with over the years to come. Glad to see that game was a sellout...largest crowd ever in Erickson Stadium...speaks volumes for the Wahoo and Mountaineer following. I hope the fan support continues in Charlottesville.

wish I had watched the game, but I was playing in the woods.Sorry about your mountaineers Diablo but I sure am happy the wahoos won. Maybe that will shut those lousy critics up now. What will even be better is if they are the only ones that win their Bowl Game in the ACC

I thought you'd all get a kick out of this...Local Newspaers (RAGS) here in Greenville, SC are really blasting Clemson Coach, Tommy Bowden following their thrashing from Texas Tech in the Tangerine Bowl. Folks around here want him gone, siting most recently (as quoted in today's paper)that "he does not have any connection to the community or this area". Puts a new spin on the "warm and welcoming sout" don't you think?!

WAHOOWA!!

We had a great time in Charlotte! Ticketmaster screwed up our tickets and put us in a WVU section. All their fans were great and got really sick of the 4 of us singing "The Good Ol Song". :) Virginia really came out ready to play and Al Groh had his team totally prepared and made all the right adjustments after the 1st quarter. Lundy is a stud and everyone in our section was commenting on how great Schaub was with his passing and decision making. It was the real Gator Bowl and hopefully the Cavs will get in the top 25 where they belong! WVU looked out of sync and UVA really closed up the middle on Coburne and they had the speed to keep him from getting the corner. My biggest concern going in was WVU's rushing attack and UVA's defense performed well.

I have heard some bad things about WVU fans but all the fans in our section were great. We had a lot that spoke to us when they left and had several come up to us as we were leaving to congratulate us. Really classy fans in my opinion and they came out and supported their team... that stadium was full of blue & gold.

Anxiously awaiting next year...
