I'm going to take up predator hunting... saw my 2nd bobcat of the season... had only seen 2 in the wild in my life until this year and have seen 2 in a month. Was a pretty good story... went and setup at at a good gobbler roosting spot and waited for daylight... nothing on that hill but heard birds across the hollow and one was gobbling... jake... got up and went over the just to see if I could find them as I didn't want to shoot a hen or poult. Sure enough snuck in to about 60 yards and was watching a flock of about 10-12 birds. Then a jake answered my yelps off to my left in the clearcut and proceeded to come to within 10 yards, I passed and 2 minutes behind him was an adult hen... they both worked their way to the main flock and I was just watching them. Caught movement out of the corner of my eye where the 2 turkeys came from and there is a large bobcat stalking the unsuspecting turkeys. Not wanting to kill one of those turkeys but not wanting the bobcat to get one (even though he probably wouldn't have and will be after them again tomorrow) I fired a shot over Mr. Bob's head... he went one way and the turkeys flushed in the trees close by. I slipped down beside the tree and the turkeys finally pitched right back down and went back to feeding and went over the hill. Must have thought it was thunder... Anyway... no longbeards this AM, but plenty of excitement... Started raining had on the way out of the mountain and I got soaked... but had fun!

.As some of you know I am not a fall turkey hunter. I have only been a couple of times, and have serious reservations from a management point of view about whether it is wise to kill birds in the fall. But they have not put me totaly in charge of seasons down here yet, and apparently some counties are bustin' out in turkeys and fall hunting in huigh population areas must not have a negative effect short term. So saturday am I went down here in Tenn, really just to see if there were any birds around a place I like to hunt in the spring. I never heard or saw anything but fog and rain(except for the usual parcel of 10 to 20 deer). Appears to be a lot of soft mast in our woods tho and grapes were everywhere. I wish I could say., like Freddy, that I had fun. But truthfully I really did not "enjoy" it . I think I like the action of the spring hunts, andFreddy says if one would strut and gobble in the fall I might like it better...he is right. .

Freddy too bad it was not Nov 1st cause then you could have aimed a bit lower and taken old Bob out. I went predator hunting last year and killed a bobcat, and it is fun and am looking forward to going again this year. The guys I go with are getting pretty good at it and kill a lot of foxes. I would like a chance at a yote this year.

That is absolutely amazing! To actually see a bobcat hunting has to be really rare. Now you are going to have to go after him with your bow. Hody has set the bar pretty high with his 35 lber.
