I was bowhunting on a farm in northampton co. NC this week which is only 1 mile from the VA line and heard a turkey gobble 12 times on the roost on the morning of the 13th. I have never heard one gobble in Sept., has anyone else ever heard one during this time? I have heard them gobble in Nov and Oct. but never in September. |

Hey Grubbs... I have heard turkeys gobbling every month of the year except August. Birds gobble througout the non-mating season for several reasons... quite frequently they will gobble when a flock of gobblers is having a pecking order fight and they will also gobble to find their buddies when separated. Pretty cool whenever you hear it though! How's the bowhunting? |

The hunting was nice since the weather was cool last week but no deer taken. I had does around me every time I set in the stand but I was really wanting to take a buck. I usually won't take does till the end of the season and that is usually with the 300 mag or ole betsy 12guage. |
