I slipped out Thanksgiving afternoon to hang a treestand for the next morning hunt. I had a few minutes to slip into a stand that Amy and I put up last weekend. It was REALLY windy and to be honest I wasn't expecting much. I turned around to check behind me and when I turned back to the front of the stand I saw a nice buck trotting by at 60 yards. A quick glimpse revealed that it was a shooter and I shouldered my rifle and squeezed off a shot. The deer bucked and took off up the hill. I quickly gathered my gear and went to the spot of the shot and immediately realized I hit him a little far back. I took up the track because I felt like I could get another shot before he got over the next ridge. Sure enough I crested the hill and he had already bedded and was barely able to get on his feet. Another more steady shot put him down for good. Amy still says we need a doe for meat! :-)

Nice buck Freddy!
Hey, give me a little reminder how to post photos and I'll show you a few Nansel Ranch Mulies.
We'll get Max's blood flowing a bet!

Thanks,

Another Nice Buck.. Congrats.. your Thanksgiving week went a little better than mine.. I passed on two small bucks.. ended up taking a Doe late in the week for the freezer..

Also called in two hens and a Semi Mature Gobbler he had about a four inch beard.. even made him Gobble once.. but alas All I had was the high powered rifle at the time, so I let them all walk.. That got me pumped up even more for spring to get here quick.. :-)

Great to be in the woods .. even if I didn't take a buck..

Maybe the late season up here will be good to me again this year..

RB...if you're really wanting to get the spring gobbler juices fired up...go back into the 2004 archives and read some of the threads through the hunting seasons...it's not even december...to hell with the visions of sugar plums dancing in my head...i've got visions of strutting gobblers to contend with...
